At JC Swimming Academy, our first priority has always been safety. This month we are proud to launch our structured, three-level Drowning Awareness programme — built to give every swimmer real survival confidence in deeper, larger pools.
It is a programme close to our founder's heart. Coach Jasper has spent more than ten years teaching students of every age, and he has seen first-hand that knowing how to swim is not always the same as knowing how to survive.
"Not every swimmer or non-swimmer is able to survive when panic happens in deep water."
— Coach Jasper, Founder & Head Coach
Many people can swim a length of the pool — but when they are tired, panic, cannot touch the floor, or face a real emergency, they may freeze and forget everything. Our Drowning Awareness programme is designed to change that, turning swimming ability into genuine, calm-under-pressure survival skill.
What students learn
Through the JC safety system, every student builds a complete set of water-survival skills, step by step:
- Water confidence
- Breath control
- Floating survival
- Deep-water safety
- Head-up survival
- Water treading
- Staying calm in emergencies
- Drowning-prevention awareness
Three progressive levels
The programme is split into three clear levels, so students always know what they are working towards. Level 1 builds the foundation — breath holding, back floating and short swims with a board. Level 2 moves into deeper water with longer floats, jumps and treading without a float. Level 3 develops independent survival: swimming without support, diving to depth, passing underwater obstacles and the flip-boat test.
Every level is taught patiently, with safety supervised at all times. Students progress only when they are genuinely ready — because the goal is not to rush, but to make survival skills second nature.
